You are a fluke of the universe…

One of the big issues with the advertising we are bombarded with is that they are not always about what they seem to be advertising. One campaign that has been running on Air America (and I guess other stations and perhaps on TV ) is an Ad Council campaign for a blood donation program called “Bloodsaves.” I am all in favor of blood donations, so I have nothing against the program itself. I do have some profound questions about the ads. They are here if you haven’t heard them. I think the radio ads are clearer. The tag line is “Saving the world isn’t easy. Saving a life is.” To me the ad emphasize that taking up an active anti-corporate campaign leads to unexpected consequenses, probably causing more damage than the original issue. Better to just passively give blood, doing unambiguous good. Check it out and see what you think.
